Design Requirements

In June 2020, Co-Founder of Eyemelt Productions, Croix Stone, commissioned me to redesign his videography company’s logo. When asked about the design requirements, Croix stated:

“I want a logo that’s symbolic, but not too complex. Something our customers see as unique and sticker-worthy.”

Logo Redesigns

In a flurry of creative inspiration, I created two distinct logo iterations and an additional typographic modification. My deliverables to the client were three logo styles to choose from.

Version 1

In this version, I used the outer “Eyemelt Productions” box to symbolize the outline of a camera. Similarly, the eyeball represents the camera lens. I wanted to give the logo symbolic representation of the client’s company name, so I illustrated a melting eye as the most prominent feature of the logo.

This logo is the client’s favorite and was favorite of mine as well. The client deemed this version “super sticker-worthy!”

Version 2

The client discussed that in the future, the company may be referred to their abbreviation, “EMP,” so I complemented the pictorial mark (the eyeball), with a professional and minimalistic typeface (Orkney). To keep things simple, I used a vertical lockup with the logo and type.

Version 3

Version 3 has a completely different look and feel. Like versions 1 and 2, the most prominent feature of the logo is the camera lens (or eyeball). Similar to the previous version, I kept the theme of a melting logo to reflect the company’s name. I also aligned the type and logo in the same way as Version 2, to keep it simple and clean.
